Chen Dayu

Chen Dayu was born in Chaoyang Guangdong, graduated from the department of Chinese painting at Shanghai Arts Academy in 1935, his master was Qi Baishi. In 1950, he was appointed associate professor of Shanghai Art academy. In 1958, he was transferred to Nanjing Art University as a professor of arts. He was a member of the China Art Association, vice chairman of the Chinese Artists Association and the Jiangsu Branch of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, and executive director of the Chinese Calligraphers Association. He was good at bird-and-flower painting, calligraphy and seal carving.
